Hi, I'm Awjanai

Writing has always been one of my greatest strengths, and over the years it has opened doors I never imagined. At just 16 years old, while I was a junior in high school, I enrolled in a college-level English course and earned top marks. That experience gave me an early appreciation for the power of strong writing and showed me what was possible when I challenged myself.

A few years later, at 19, writing changed the course of my career. I was selected to serve as a Press Communications Intern for U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey (D-MA). During the hiring process, I was told that one of the deciding factors was the strength of my writing sample. Knowing that my ability to communicate clearly and effectively helped me earn that opportunity reinforced something I had believed for years: writing isn't just a classroom skill—it has the power to create real opportunities.

My passion for building something meaningful also began long before Ink & Ivory Imprint. I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs, including my father, and had the opportunity to see firsthand what it takes to build and sustain a business. From understanding customers and serving the community to developing a vision and creating meaningful connections, I learned that a successful business is built on trust, purpose, and genuine care for the people it serves. Those lessons continue to shape how I approach my own business today.

At the same time, my journey hasn't been without challenges. Throughout school, college, and the early stages of my career, I often found myself learning important skills through trial and error. There were practical lessons about professional writing, communication, career development, and entrepreneurship that I wish someone had taught me sooner. Instead, I learned by asking questions, doing research, making mistakes, and continuing to grow.

That experience became the foundation for Ink & Ivory Imprint.

I created this business because I believe no one should have to navigate those challenges alone. My goal is not only to provide editing, writing support, and communications services, but also to share the knowledge, encouragement, and practical guidance I wish I'd had. If I can help someone avoid the roadblocks I faced, build confidence in their writing, and reach their goals a little sooner, then I've fulfilled the purpose behind this business.
